Our Story
HAKI Africa was established in 2012 in response to growing concerns about human rights violations and socio‑economic injustices affecting communities along Kenya’s Coast and beyond. We are a non‑profit organisation registered in Kenya working to promote the rule of law, social accountability, civic participation and sustainable development. HAKI means “rights” in Swahili, and our work centres on amplifying the voices of those often unheard.
Our Vision
A society where all people live in dignity, equality and justice, free from violence, discrimination and poverty.
Our Mission
To empower communities by enhancing human rights awareness and protection, promoting accountability and fostering inclusive livelihoods.
Our Values
- Integrity: We uphold honesty, transparency and accountability in all our work.
- Solidarity: We stand with communities to pursue collective action and justice.
- Inclusivity: We ensure participation of women, youth and marginalised groups in decision‑making.
- Non‑violence: We believe in peaceful and lawful means to realise human rights for all.
