Human rights defenders, HAKI Africa Rapid Response Officer, Mathias Shipeta were among those who protested against the increasing abductions in Kenya on 31st December 2024. The police however arrested some of the protesters. Human rights organization called for the immediate release of the 34 protesters unlawfully detained at Central Police Stations in Nairobi, Mombasa, Embu and other areas. Their only "crime" was exercising their constitutional right to assemble, speak out, and demand justice. Abductions and arbitrary arrests have no place in a just society.
